As many of you have heard, THORSwap has big plans for the future — expanding our comprehensive feature-set, evolving into a cross-chain DEX aggregator, and launching the community-owned THORChads rewards platform.
In parallel to expansive product development, THORSwap will launch its native token THOR, an ERC20 token, to reward community members and incentivize the “trading black hole.” We’ll have many more articles in the coming weeks that will explain everything in detail — so keep following to stay updated.
Today, we’d like to introduce the upcoming THOR airdrop to THORSwap community members and THORChain early adopters. As airdrops always lead to many questions, we’d like to be as transparent as possible.
Why a THOR airdrop?
THORSwap will airdrop 5% of the total THOR supply of 500,000,000 to the community and early adopters. Roughly US$10,000,000 worth of THOR will be airdropped shortly after the TGE (Token Generation Event), with the remaining airdrop allocation to be awarded during monthly competitions.
Two main reasons for an airdrop:
- To reward active THORSwap community members and THORChain early adopters. Both are of paramount importance for the success of any product and cannot be valued enough. Many community members have dedicated a lot of time and effort to help THORSwap grow and improve and this airdrop serves as a token of appreciation to early users.
- The airdrop is the first step towards decentralized THORSwap governance and ownership. The majority of THOR’s total supply is allocated for the community and must be earned through productive community actions. THOR tokenomics details will be shared very soon.
Who is eligible for the airdrop?
Both THORSwap community contributors and THORChain early adopters will be rewarded.
THORSwap community members:
The THORSwap community mostly resides within Discord. Therefore, we have already taken a snapshot of eligible community members based on the following criteria:
- Top active members
- Community members who reported bugs or provided feedback in the past
- THORChain ecosystem builders
- Server Booster users
These eligible community members will be given an exclusive role in THORSwap’s Discord and get access to the private #thor-airdrop channel, where they will receive further instruction.
THORChain Early adopters:
To reward THORChain early adopters, a snapshot will be taken in the near future of all historic:
- Traders who performed swap using THORSwap interface
- Liquidity Providers for THORChain pools, regardless of front-end interface
- THORName registrants
- THORYield Campaign participants #ShareYourYield
- Top THORChad Score users
After this snapshot has been taken, a new announcement will be made with instructions on how to claim the airdrop.
Note: If you are eligible for both the Discord-based community member rewards and the THORChain early adopter rewards, then congratulations, you will eligible for both! :)
